December 8th

Dear Students and Parents,

We have wrapped up our second unit the second week of November and have started our third unit.

The G2/3 will be doing a Stand-Alone Unit called "My family". The central idea is:  There are different relationships in our families and each person can play an important role in our lives. We will be working on the concepts of: form, connection, causation. The lines of inquiry are: people in our families, the relationships between me and my family members and the important of family members in our lives. Our main language focus will be about family members and how to give information about them such as age, name, physical description and the role they play in the student' life.

The G4/5 will be doing a Stand-Alone unit called "Places and Directions". The central idea is: knowing the locations and directions help us to communicate our needs. We will be working on the concepts of form and connection. The lines of inquiry are: the different places in our community and how the different places are connected to one another. Our main language focus will be about directions (how to go from one place to another and understanding when directions are being given orally).

Vocabulary lists will be uploaded on the respective grade page. Please click on the vocabulary list to review the words with your child. A voice recording will also be uploaded for each of the vocabulary list.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely yours,

Molavy Mey

October 6th

Dear Students and Parents,

A big congratulations to all the French FL students for an excellent job at the Assembly. You all said your lines confidently!

We have wrapped up our first unit last week. We will be starting new units this week.

The G2/3 will be doing a Stand-Alone Unit called "My pets". The central idea is: Knowing how to take care of our pets helps us to be responsible humans. We will be working on the concepts of: form and responsibility. The lines of inquiry are: the pets we have and being responsible for our pets. Our main language focus will be about animals (pets).

The G4/5 will be doing a Stand-Alone unit called "Days of our Lives". The central idea is: Understanding how to balance our lives contributes to a healthy lifestyle. We will be working on the concepts of form, causation and reflection. The lines of inquiry are: daily routines, how activities and routine affect our lifestyle and being a balanced person. Our main language focus will be about time (how to say the time in French and how to ask for the time in French).

The vocabulary list for both grades will be uploaded soon. As for the voice recordings for the vocab list, I will try to post it as well - right now I am experiencing some technical difficulties in uploading it into the post. But I will work toward including it on the post as per popular demand.

Thank you for your understanding. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Many thanks,

Molavy Mey

Assembly - October 3rd 2014

Dear Parents and Students,

The G2/3 and G4/5 French FL students will be presenting at the upcoming assembly on October 3rd.

The G2/3s will be presenting what they have learned in their first FL unit of the year, an integrated unit, called "Healthy Habits".

The G4/5s will be presenting a poem about respect. Their first FL unit of the year, also an integrated unit, was about "Belief Systems". Because there are many different belief systems among ISPP students, respect is important.

Here below is the script for the G2/3 presentation and the G4/5 presentation. You can help your child to memorize her/his line for the assembly.

There is also a voice recording available if you wish to work on the pronunciation. If you wish to get the voice recording, please send me an email to meymolavy@ispp.edu.kh and I will share the document with you as I am experiencing some technical difficulties uploading the movie/voice recording.

Sincerely yours,

Molavy Mey

This is what we have learned so far in French class. After spending the first ten minutes of every lesson learning and practising basic vocabulary, we learn vocabulary and sentence patterns related to our current unit of inquiry. To know more about the specific vocabulary and sentence patterns we have learned, please click on your child's grade level. You will find a list that you can review with your child.
